The car is built on the updated platform, BMW 5-series, made of lightweight materials, reducing weight by 150 kg SUV. The automaker took other measures to reduce the weight of cars. It is expected that the new generation BMW X5 will weigh 1800 kg vs. 2125 kg from the current BMW X5 xDrive30i.

The engine line-mounted SUV, refined to reduce fuel consumption and harmful emissions into the atmosphere. It is expected that the new BMW X5 is equipped with four-cylinder and two new engines: the petrol and diesel power of about 245 hp. The premiere model can take place in late 2013 of the first or beginning of 2014.
